What are Resistive Surface Systems?

What are Resistive Surface Systems?

Resistive screens are the most common type found in systems, especially those with touchscreens. Many of our modern, high-tech devices are actually resistive. As the name suggests, these systems have resistive properties, meaning you need to apply pressure to the screen for it to respond. This pressure creates an electrical signal on the layer of the screen. It is a system used in smart board products.

What to Know About Resistive Surface Systems?

Resistive screens consist of two thin layers separated by a small gap, with spacer points between these layers, in addition to an upper protective layer. In these systems used in smart board models, electricity is generated when these layers touch each other, i.e., when pressure is applied to the screen, and a touch signal is created. For these reasons, any object that can create pressure can be used on resistive screens.

What are Capacitive Surface Systems?

Capacitive screens are generally made of insulating materials and are very effective on transparent surfaces used in glass or board applications. In smart board systems, a transparent conductive material is placed within this layer. When the screen is touched, the current from the finger is drawn to the touched point, causing a voltage drop. When a capacitive touch surface is touched, the screen's electrical field changes, and the controller calculates the position of the touched point on the x or y axes and sends it to the computer.
