How to Relieve Nasal Congestion in Babies
One of the most common problems in babies is nasal congestion. When the baby cannot notice that their nose is blocked due to the lack of self-control impulse, persistent coughs and restlessness can be observed. There can be various reasons for nasal congestion. Conditions caused by changes in the weather as winter approaches can also affect babies.
What to Do for Babies with Blocked Noses
Generally, common nasal congestion problems are observed during weather changes. Besides this, exposing the baby to excessive cold can also lead to nasal congestion. In such cases, it is important to remain calm and comfort the baby first. If the baby is a newborn or within the first six months, medication is highly discouraged. Instead, creating a humid environment and ensuring the baby breathes more comfortably by elevating their head with a pillow is necessary. Additionally, nasal aspirators can be beneficial for babies. However, care must be taken to use them carefully. If necessary, using saline solution can also be effective. If nasal congestion does not subside, a doctor's examination may be required. Such symptoms could be indicative of a different illness.
